On her debut album, Adéla turned a Golden Globes fantasy into a song called “Nicole Kidman.” The actual Nicole Kidman noticed.
Backstage at a Golden Globes afterparty she’d wandered into without a single film credit to her name, Adéla got her hair blown out, was laced into a corset pulled theatrically tight, and handed a pair of heels she’d never walked a red carpet in before. By the time she caught her own reflection, something had shifted. She told W Magazine that the tightness of the corset alone did it, and she went home afterward and rewatched Eyes Wide Shut. According to Songfacts, she came out the other side obsessed, in her own words: “I actually watched Eyes Wide Shut and became obsessed with her.”
That night became “Nicole Kidman,” the second track on Prima, the 22-year-old Slovak singer’s debut album, released September 4 through Capitol Records. It’s the fourth single pulled from the record, following “KGB,” “Red Bottoms,” and “Ain’t in LA,” and it plays the fantasy for maximum camp, a corset pulled tight for Moulin Rouge!, control-freak confidence borrow from Babygirl, all of it deliver over a synth-pop beat built during session overseen by the album’s executive producers, 100 gecs’ Dylan Brady and Blake Slatkin.
The video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, pushes the homage further than the lyrics do. Adéla restages the masked ritual from Eyes Wide Shut, the can-can pandemonium of Moulin Rouge!, the funeral-still frames of Birth, and even Kidman’s own AMC “We Make Movies Better” pre-show ad, the one that’s been playing in front of trailers since 2021.
Adéla, born Adéla Jergová in Bratislava and trained for years in ballet before she pivoted to pop, has spent the two years since building toward a moment like this one. She was voted off early from Dream Academy, the HYBE and Geffen Records competition that produced Katseye, and turned the “villain edit” that followed into a solo run that got her opening arenas for Demi Lovato and, this summer, made “Ain’t in LA” the first song by a Slovak artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
muse
On August 27, Kidman walked the London premiere of Practical Magic 2, her upcoming sequel with Sandra Bullock. A fan in the crowd asked if she knew who Adéla was. She did. Per W Magazine, Kidman told the fan, “I absolutely know who she is,” and added that she planned to catch Adéla’s Nashville date on the ongoing Red Bottoms Tour.
The next day, Kidman posted her first-ever TikTok video, on a platform she’d never used before that moment. It showed her getting ready for the premiere, hair and makeup in motion, and it wasn’t soundtracked by “Nicole Kidman” at all. She set it to Adéla’s earlier single “Ain’t in LA,” captioning the post “Magic brought me here.”
extend
It isn’t an isolated crossover. As Nylon pointed out days after Prima’s tracklist first leaked, Kidman had already turned up in Troye Sivan‘s “She’s the Best” video earlier this year, playing a nightclub owner opposite Sivan in and out of drag. Two different pop records built around the same 59-year-old muse in the same stretch of one year, and only one of them got her to open a TikTok account to prove it.

Adéla’s Red Bottoms Tour runs through February 2027. Nashville, the city Kidman name-checked at the premiere, is still on the calendar for later this fall.
