DRIFT

In a remarkable fusion of automotive heritage and contemporary artistry, Hedley Studios has unveiled two all-electric, scaled-down replicas of the iconic Bugatti Type 35. These bespoke models, known as the Bugatti Baby II, pay homage to the legendary 1924 French Grand Prix car and feature exclusive hand-painted designs by New York-based artist Alex Alpert.

A Tribute to the Bugatti Legacy

The original Bugatti Type 35 is celebrated for its engineering excellence and racing pedigree, having secured over 1,000 victories in its era. Hedley Studios, renowned for crafting luxury, drivable art pieces, has meticulously recreated this classic in a 75% scale, fully electric format. The Bugatti Baby II is not merely a collector’s item but a functional vehicle that embodies the spirit of its predecessor.

Connection with Alex Alpert

To infuse a modern artistic flair into these replicas, Hedley Studios partnered with Alex Alpert, whose distinctive style is characterized by free-flowing line variations and detailed shading. Alpert’s designs for the Bugatti Baby II draw inspiration from the marque’s storied history, including elements like the centenary of the Type 35 and the brand’s home at the Château Saint Jean.

Design and Features

Each Bugatti Baby II is hand-built using a full 3D scan of an original Type 35, ensuring authenticity in design. The vehicles are adorned with a genuine, solid silver Bugatti Macaron, symbolizing exclusivity and craftsmanship. Alpert’s artwork is meticulously applied, making each model a unique masterpiece that blends automotive excellence with visual art.

Performance and Specifications

The Bugatti Baby II is available in three models: Base, Vitesse, and Pur Sang. Each model features a fully electric powertrain with varying performance levels, offering top speeds up to 68 km/h (45 mph). The vehicles are equipped with modern amenities, including regenerative braking and swappable lithium-ion battery packs, ensuring a seamless blend of classic design and contemporary technology.

Limited Edition and Availability

In keeping with Bugatti’s tradition of exclusivity, the Bugatti Baby II is a limited edition, with only 500 units being produced. Each vehicle is signed and numbered, adding to its collectible value. Prospective owners can customize their models through Hedley Studios’ configurator, selecting from a range of exterior paint finishes and interior leather trims to create a personalized piece of automotive art.

Impression

The collaboration between Hedley Studios and Alex Alpert has garnered significant attention in both the automotive and art communities. Critics and enthusiasts alike have praised the Bugatti Baby II for its seamless integration of historical homage and modern artistry. The project exemplifies how traditional craftsmanship can coexist with contemporary design, resulting in a product that appeals to collectors, art aficionados, and automotive enthusiasts.

The Bugatti Baby II stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Bugatti marque and the innovative spirit of Hedley Studios. Through the artistic vision of Alex Alpert, these all-electric replicas transcend their function as vehicles, becoming symbols of the harmonious blend between art and engineering. As limited-edition pieces, they offer a unique opportunity for collectors to own a part of automotive history reimagined for the modern era.
