DRIFT

Wiz Khalifa’s latest single, “5 Star,” featuring Gunna, marks a significant moment in his musical journey, blending his signature laid-back style with Gunna’s melodic flow. Released on March 28, 2025, this track serves as a precursor to Wiz’s highly anticipated album, Kush & Orange Juice 2, set to drop on April 18, 2025.

A Nostalgic Yet Fresh Collaboration

“5 Star” is a testament to Wiz Khalifa’s ability to evolve while staying true to his roots. The production, handled by Mike & Keys, Jason Martin, and Dominique Sanders, exudes old-school California vibes, reminiscent of the ’90s West Coast sound. This nostalgic backdrop provides the perfect canvas for both artists to showcase their unique styles.

Gunna delivers a smooth, catchy hook, emphasizing themes of luxury and indulgence:

“We can do a million things

We can pack it up and fly on any plane

We can take a glass in European train

Show you how my lifestyle these days”

Wiz complements this with verses that reflect his signature themes of opulence and relaxation, rapping about champagne, exclusive flights, and his affinity for cannabis.

Building Anticipation for Kush & Orange Juice 2

“5 Star” is the fifth single leading up to Kush & Orange Juice 2, following tracks like “Hit It Once,” “Bring Your Lungs” featuring Smoke DZA, “Hide It” featuring Don Toliver, and “Khalifa’s Home.” This strategic rollout has effectively heightened anticipation for the album, which aims to blend the nostalgic essence of the original Kush & Orange Juice with a matured, contemporary sound.

The upcoming album boasts an impressive lineup of producers, including returning collabs Cardo, ID Labs, and Sledgren, alongside industry heavyweights like Mike WiLL Made-It, Juicy J, DJ Quik, and TM88. The guest list is equally notable, featuring artists such as OT Genasis, Ty Dolla $ign, Terrace Martin, Curren$y, Max B, and Chevy Woods.

Reception and Impression

Upon its release, “5 Star” received positive feedback from fans and critics alike. Listeners praised the seamless collaboration between Wiz and Gunna, highlighting the track’s smooth production and catchy melodies. The song’s nostalgic feel, combined with contemporary elements, resonates with both longtime fans and new listeners.

Flow

“5 Star” stands as a shining example of Wiz Khalifa’s ability to bridge the gap between past and present, offering a track that pays homage to classic West Coast vibes while incorporating modern influences. As Kush & Orange Juice 2 approaches its release, “5 Star” serves as a promising indicator of the quality and direction fans can expect from the upcoming project.
