DRIFT

Nike, in connect with FOOTDISTRICT, recently hosted an innovative event titled “MAD POWERED BY8,” an 8-hour immersive experience that celebrated creativity, cultural connection, and the spirit of experimentation. This unique event was inspired by the launch of the new Air Max Dn8 and aimed to explore the intersections of sport, music, and performance, bringing together influential figures from the national scene to lead workshops and foster collective expression.

The event was thoughtfully divided into two distinct parts: guided experimentation and a collective celebration. Each segment was designed to engage participants in meaningful ways, encouraging them to explore their creativity and connect with others through shared experiences.

Guided Experimentation

The first part of the event focused on guided experimentation, featuring three workshops led by influential creators who are known for their innovative approaches and contributions to their respective fields.

Urban Football Lab by Rio Dulce Club

This workshop invited participants to delve into the world of urban football, a sport that blends athleticism with creativity and personal expression. Attendees were given the opportunity to design their own footballs, each reflecting their unique connection to the sport. The process encouraged participants to think about what football means to them personally and culturally. By the end of the workshop, eight unique footballs were created, each telling a story of its own. These creations were then shared with the community, symbolizing the diverse ways in which sport can unite and inspire.

Music Experimentation with Mercabae

Led by the talented Mercabae, this workshop explored the power of music as a universal language. Participants were introduced to an eight-beat rhythm structure, which served as the foundation for creating a collective musical piece. The workshop encouraged blending different genres and styles, highlighting the beauty of diversity in music. Through collaboration and experimentation, attendees crafted a unique composition that resonated with the spirit of the event, showcasing how music can bring people together and transcend cultural boundaries.

From Concept to Action with Candela Capitán

This workshop offered a deep dive into the creative process of Candela Capitán, an artist known for her work in social criticism, body representation, and technology. Participants were guided through the initial stages of developing a new performance piece, exploring themes that are central to Capitán’s work. The workshop emphasized the importance of concept development and the role of technology in modern performance art. Attendees left with the beginnings of a performance piece, inspired by Capitán’s unique approach to creativity and expression.

Collective Celebration

The second part of the event transformed the space into a vibrant hub of music, interaction, and spontaneity. This segment was designed to be open and unstructured, allowing attendees to express themselves freely and connect with others in an organic way.

The atmosphere was set by dynamic DJ sets from Zsongo and El Bugg, whose music created an energetic backdrop for the evening. Their performances encouraged attendees to let loose and celebrate the creativity that had been cultivated throughout the day. The music ranged from upbeat tracks that got people dancing to more introspective tunes that invited reflection and connection.

As the night unfolded, the event became a lively celebration of creativity and cultural connection. Attendees from Madrid’s cultural community mingled, shared ideas, and formed new connections. The unstructured nature of this part of the event allowed for spontaneous interactions and collaborations, embodying the spirit of experimentation and collective expression that “MAD POWERED BY8″ sought to promote.

“MAD POWERED BY8” was a testament to the power of creativity and cultural connection. By bringing together sport, music, and performance, Nike and FOOTDISTRICT created an event that not only celebrated the launch of the Air Max Dn8 but also fostered a sense of community and shared expression. Through guided workshops and a vibrant celebration, attendees were encouraged to explore their creativity, connect with others, and celebrate the diverse ways in which we can express ourselves.
