Two years after the first black pair, Vans brings the Pearlized Old Skool 36 back to black on November 27, with Japan on the same calendar.
The product page on Vans‘s US store already has its headline, Perfectly Polished, and a Coming Soon tag pinned to 11/27. That date is Black Friday in the US, and it is also the date Japan has been given for the same shoe: a Premium Old Skool 36 in Pearlized Black/Marshmallow White, listed at $130 in the US and €130 in Europe.
The timing is deliberate enough to read on the calendar. November 27 falls the day after US Thanksgiving, the traditional start of the holiday shopping season, and on Vans’ European schedule the black pair sits between a Navy restock on November 19 and a Red colorway on December 10. In the US, the pair will sell through Vans.com with free shipping for Vans Family members on orders of $50 or more and for guests on orders of $99 or more, plus free returns within 30 days online or in store.

Signal. What happened: Vans has set November 27, 2026 for a new black entry in its Pearlized Old Skool 36 series, with Japan scheduled for the same day. Exact object: Vans Premium Old Skool 36 in Pearlized Black/Marshmallow White, style VN000ZB8BPR, listed in Japan as OTW by Vans Old Skool 36 “Pearlized Pack/Black,” with a suede and canvas upper under pearl and crystal detailing. When and where: November 27 via Vans.com in the US at $130 and in Europe at €130, plus select Vans stores and wholesale partners; in Japan, November 27 through ABC-MART channels, with no yen price published yet. Source: Vans’ own US and Finnish product pages and its September 3, 2026 Fall colorways announcement, plus a Japan market release notice for the Japan date and retailers. Why it matters: black is the colorway that started the Pearlized series in 2024, and its return under a new style code and the Premium label shows Vans moving the idea from a one-off OTW release into a seasonal line it now restocks and recolors on a calendar.

Vans builds the pair on its Premium version of the Style 36 pattern, which keeps the original’s sharper edges and shorter toe cap and then adds what the brand calls modern comfort upgrades. The upper layers suede and canvas for two textures, with the pearlized treatment on top and the Sidestripe running through it. Vans’ own framing for the series describes pearl and crystal detailing across a distressed upper, meant to evoke a well-traveled shoe that has been reworked and customized over time.
Below the upper, the sidewall sits higher than on a standard Old Skool and carries a gloss finish, with foxing tape modeled on the reinforced Osnaburg outsoles Vans used in the 1990s. The collar is padded, and the insole is Sola Foam ADC, which Vans says is made with at least 30 percent biobased PU foam partially derived from plants and is USDA Certified Biobased. The vulcanized build and waffle outsole stay as they have been since the brand’s founding in 1966.

The black pair is where the series began. OTW by Vans, the label formerly known as Vault by Vans, introduced the Pearlized Old Skool 36 in Black and Marshmallow on September 1, 2024, at $130, with the black version under style code VN000S52BLK. That pair has since traded on resale platforms well above its original retail price. The new release carries a different code, VN000ZB8BPR, and a different label: Vans now sells it under its Premium line rather than under OTW.
In between, the idea kept moving. An OTW by Vans x Satoshi Nakamoto Pearlized Old Skool sold out, and Vans followed it in November 2025 with Marshmallow and Fuchsia colorways across Europe, already presented as part of Vans Premium rather than OTW. In Japan, the Pearlized line returned on March 21, 2026 with an Indigo Old Skool 36 and Classic Slip-On through Vans’ official online store and other retailers.
The Fall 2026 schedule, announced on September 3, opened on September 10 with a Yacht Club colorway, which Vans says draws on sailing flags from around the world and mixes nautical color blocking with 1990s sport style. Vans ties the whole franchise to its Premium approach, which it defines as modern comfort, elevated materials and updated form, fit and feel across its classic models. In Europe, Marshmallow restocked the same day, Lime Pop follows on November 12, Navy restocks on November 19, Black/Marshmallow lands on November 27 and Red closes the season on December 10. Vans launched the season by following DJ Hank Korsan at Paris’ Fête de la Musique.
The base shoe has its own long record. Vans says Style 36 debuted in 1977 as the second skate shoe the company ever made, was the first to carry the Sidestripe, and was renamed the Old Skool in the early 1990s.

The Japan date comes from a Japan market rel notice that lists the pair as the OTW by Vans Old Skool 36 “Pearlized Pack/Black” for November 27 and names ABC-MART, ABC-MART Grand Stage and ABC-MART’s storefronts on Rakuten and Yahoo as sellers. That routing is consistent with how Vans reaches Japan: ABC-MART‘s predecessor company signed an agency contract with Vans, Inc. for exclusive sales rights in Japan and later acquired the right to use the Vans trademark there to develop its own products.
What the Japan notice does not give is a yen price. It lists only the $130 US retail. For reference, an earlier Japan rel from the same pearl-detailed Premium Old Skool 36 range, a Pearl Vintage Cocoa colorway that arrived in April 2026, was priced at ¥15,950.
The Japan listing also keeps the OTW name that Vans itself has moved away from for this shoe, a small sign of how quickly the series has changed hands inside the company. On Vans’ US product page, the black pair now sits beside three other Pearlized swatches for the season: Black/Navy Blue, Racing Red and Black/Fluro Lime.
