On May 25-26, 2026, Ferrari pulled the covers off the Luce (pronounced “loo-CHAY”), its first fully electric production vehicle and one of the most anticipated — and polarizing — cars in the Prancing Horse’s history. Priced starting around €550,000 (roughly $600,000+ USD depending on market and options), the Luce isn’t just another Ferrari; it’s a radical departure that blends Maranello’s performance DNA with the minimalist, tactile know of LoveFrom, the creative collective founded by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson.

This five-door liftback sedan (sometimes described as a shooting brake-sedan hybrid) marks Ferrari’s bold entry into the all-electric era. It was developed over years in close collaboration with LoveFrom, which influenced both the interior (revealed earlier in February 2026) and the overall design direction from the outset. The result is a vehicle that feels like the closest thing we’ll get to an “Apple Car” — precise, intuitive, materially exquisite — while remaining unmistakably Ferrari in its pursuit of speed, engagement, and emotion.

Ferrari first teased its electric ambitions years ago, but the project crystallized at the 2025 Capital Markets Day when the company revealed details of what was then called the Elettrica. A bespoke 800-volt platform was engineered entirely in-house, with a focus on maintaining Ferrari’s legendary driving dynamics despite the added weight of batteries.

The name “Luce,” Italian for “light” (as in radiance or illumination), was officially confirmed in February 2026 alongside the interior reveal. It symbolizes not just electrification but a new era of clarity, simplicity, and enlightenment in design.

The full exterior unveiled in Rome breaks sharply from Ferrari’s traditional low-slung, curvaceous sports car silhouette.

At 5,026 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, 1,544 mm tall, with a 2,961 mm wheelbase, the Luce is Ferrari’s most spacious road car yet — a genuine five-seater with four doors. It has a reported curb weight of 2,260 kg.

LoveFrom and Ferrari’s Centro Stile created a “single clean volume” with smooth, continuous surfaces, minimal interruptions, and exceptional aerodynamics. The drag coefficient is a class-leading 0.25.

Critics have called the lozenge-like shape futuristic or even polarizing. It prioritizes efficiency and spaciousness over aggressive wedges or vents. This is a grand tourer that can genuinely accommodate a family while delivering supercar performance — a first for Ferrari.

Under the skin, the Luce is a quad-motor, all-wheel-drive beast delivering a combined 1,035 hp. Expect 0-62 mph in about 2.5 seconds and a top speed near 193 mph.

The 122 kWh battery pack sits in the floor. Range is estimated at up to 330 miles (WLTP). Advanced torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, and active suspension promise sharp handling and comfort.

Ferrari hasn’t abandoned emotion: a sophisticated sound system amplifies electro-mechanical vibrations through a premium audio setup.

The interior, fully revealed earlier, is where LoveFrom’s influence shines brightest. Ive’s team emphasized physical connection, material purity, and intuitive controls.

Key highlights include the glass shifter, dual OLED displays with physical elements, a pivoting central touchscreen, and obsessive attention to materials like aluminum, Gorilla Glass, and premium leathers. The cabin feels like a “single clean volume” — simplified forms serving the driver.

Ive and Newson aimed to restore the visceral joy missing in many modern cars. The result is clinical yet delightful — precise without being cold.

The Luce has sparked intense debate. Enthusiasts are split: some praise it as a game changer; others criticize the design as too radical.

Analysts note the gamble, but Ferrari targets new customers alongside traditional ones. U.S. deliveries are expected from Q2 2027.

The Ferrari Luce represents more than a new model — it’s a bridge between Ferrari’s heritage and the electric future contribution proves that great design transcends categories.

For buyers, it’s a versatile ultra-luxury EV. For the industry, it’s proof that EVs can evoke emotion.

As Jony Ive reflected, projects like this yield the product and the knowledge gained. The Luce illuminates a path forward.
