The 2025-26 JS 別注 rebuilds an 80s-90s down with AURORA-TEX, 760-fill Spanish duck, a stowable hood, and a cropped city hem at ¥59,400.
SKU 25011610005930 is not a mountain parka pretending to be one. JOURNAL STANDARD asked NANGA for a city down built off 1980s and 1990s vintage shapes, then put waterproof fabric and a short hem on it so the jacket could sit over the wide pants that already fill JS floors. The official season tag on the BAYCREW’S feature is 2025-26 Autumn/Winter. That is the winter still hanging in shops and on product pages in 2026. A fresh 2026 FW NANGA x JS capsule has not been posted on the current 26AW reservation list.
stir
In this building, 別注 is the working word. Bespoke here does not mean a made-to-measure chest. It means JOURNAL STANDARD wrote a spec NANGA would not cut for its own mountain line: archive hardware, a hood that disappears, a hem that refuses to cover a thigh. The retailer keeps doing this with other factories the same season (Lee jackets, TAILOR TOYO souvenir shells, HERITAGE LEATHER bags). NANGA is the down chapter of that habit.
The jacket is listed as NANGA × JOURNAL STANDARD and NANGA for JS on the same product family. Colors in the live copy are black and khaki. Sizes M, L, XL. Tax-in price ¥59,400. Shell and lining nylon. Fill 90 percent down, 10 percent feather. Country of origin on one major JP listing: China. That last line matters if you assumed every NANGA chest badge meant a Shiga sewing floor. The down science is NANGA. The cut is a JS city brief.

NANGA down vests in contrast fills: navy/red, olive/lime, purple/orange.
flow
NANGA’s parent story starts in Omi futon country. Yokota Sewing opened in 1941 in what is now Maibara, Shiga, on subcontract work from the regional mattress trade. The company took the NANGA name in 1995 from Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest Himalayan peak, a mountain with a reputation that matches the founder’s line about climbing the route other people skip. President Tomoyuki Yokota still frames the house around fill quality and sewing. Sleeping bags came first. Apparel followed because the same loft that keeps a body alive at dawn also sells in Harajuku if you change the hem.
JOURNAL STANDARD, under BAYCREW’S, has spent years turning outdoor factories into floor-ready exclusives. The 2025-26 NANGA brief is consistent with that desk: take a known technical house, strip the trail silhouette, keep the spec sheet that justifies the price. GO OUT’s Ryotaro Miyazaki filed the first widely read look at the jacket in late October 2025 and called it a modern reading of an archive, not a costume.
huh
The shell is AURORA-TEX, NANGA’s waterproof-breathable nylon. Published figures on the JS listing: water resistance 20,000 mm, moisture permeability 6,000 g/m²/24 hrs. Rain sits on the face. Vapor is supposed to leave. That is the point of putting a sleeping-bag house on a commute jacket. Cotton-look down dies in a Tokyo shower. This one is built not to.
Fill is 760 fill-power Spanish white duck, 90/10, 153 grams in the JS spec. NANGA’s copy on that duck talks about longer rearing and larger down clusters, more air per gram. 153 grams is not an expedition load. It is a city load with a high loft number, which is how the jacket stays thin enough for a short hem and still claims real warmth.
Hardware is where the 80s and 90s read is visible. A D-ring sits on the front, the kind of spare loop vintage down used for gloves or a compass and JS now uses as a small metal pause in an otherwise quiet placket. The hood unzips or unclips depending on the sample language, then packs into an interior pocket so the neckline can go clean. Miyazaki noted the short body as a fit for current wide trousers. Long mountain hems pool over that volume. This one stops earlier.
Marui’s product text repeats the same architecture: vintage base, urban minimum, AURORA-TEX face, 760 FP inside. Nothing in that paragraph is trail-first. The jacket is meant to look like a down from a photo of 1992 without wearing like one.

fit
The same winter produced a sibling under JOURNAL STANDARD relume. That line’s NANGA 別注 split in two: an AURORA-TEX down at ¥50,600 with NANGA’s carabiner hand warmer, and a rib-collar, rib-cuff down at ¥52,800 in SUPPLEX nylon tussor with 700 FP ethical down. GO OUT ran that pair as street-and-field daily jackets, mid-November 2025. Relume’s Aurora piece is the closer cousin to the mainline JS jacket. The rib piece is the American-casual read: IDEAL zip, soft collar, less technical face.
Do not flatten those SKUs into one capsule. JS mens and relume filed separate briefs with the same factory.
NANGA’s own 2026 FW is a different calendar. From 31 July online and 1 August in shops, the brand ran a Down Items Order Fair through 30 September 2026: signature AURORA TEX DOWN JACKET, Japan-made IBUKI, light MIKAMI, plus new bag families (AURORA TEX LIGHT, DRYDRATE BAG, ReVibe BAG). Reservation perk: a non-sale sleeping-bag keyholder. That fair is NANGA talking to NANGA customers. It does not replace the JS 別注, and it has not been announced as a JS exclusive.
If a 2026 FW NANGA x JOURNAL STANDARD Bespoke drop exists as a new SKU, it has not been published on the JS 26AW reservation round that already includes Tailor Toyo at ¥91,300 and the rest of the autumn board. Until that page appears, the Bespoke jacket is 25011610005930.
straddle
¥59,400 puts the JS piece above the relume Aurora and in the same band as other JS factory exclusives that are not leather or souvenir embroidery. Black and khaki are the colors the listings agree on. Khaki is the one outdoor magazines reached for first, because it photographs like a field jacket even when the hem is city-short.

The lookbook on BAYCREW’S credits model Charlie, hair and make-up Fuka, web design Takuro Irisawa, photographs Yosuke Kumagai, edit Yuya Ota and Teru Oizumi. That is the official picture set. Retail pages recycle the same garment on white or on a hanger. Omotesando JS was the inquiry number GO OUT printed: 03-6418-7961.
What you are looking at, in one sentence: a Shiga down house’s waterproof cloth and 760-fill Spanish duck, cut to a JOURNAL STANDARD archive sketch, sold through BAYCREW’S as the 2025-26 winter 別注, still the piece people mean when they ask for NANGA Journal Standard 2026 autumn winter. The next 別注, if it comes, will get a new SKU. This one already has its number.
