Six days after his final opening slot on Ken Carson’s tour, the Upper West Side rapper-producer dropped a sub-two-minute single built around its own title.

Ken Carson’s xperimenting tour played its final date in San Francisco on September 23, closing out a month in which xaviersobased held down the support slot in big rooms from Chicago to Brooklyn to the West Coast. Six days later, on a Tuesday rather than the industry’s usual Friday, he put out “Walls Closin Inn,” a single that runs under two minutes and landed alongside an official music video on YouTube.

Signal. What happened: xaviersobased released “Walls Closin Inn” as a standalone single with its own music video. Exact object: a one-track single running under two minutes, credited in lyric databases to xaviersobased and a producer listed as anarchy. When and where: September 29, 2026, on Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud and Audiomack, through 1-chance and Surf Gang Records with Atlantic Records holding an exclusive license on the release. Source: the single’s Apple Music listing and the label credits printed there. Why it matters: it is his second solo single in five weeks and his first new music since a tour that put him in front of Ken Carson’s crowds across the country, eight months after his major-label debut album.

The song leans almost entirely on repetition. Its chorus is little more than the title phrase cycled back on itself, with ad-libs filling the gaps between passes, a structure built for a track this short. The stretched spelling is a familiar move, too, from an artist whose catalog already includes a 2022 mixtape called Nothingnesss.

Born Xavier Lopez on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 2003, he started posting music as xaviersobased in 2016, taking the “based” from Lil B. During the 2020 lockdowns he swapped a gaming headset for a microphone and turned a circle of online gaming friends into 1c34, the collective now credited with pioneering jerk, the microgenre that spread online through his 2022 song “Patchmade.”

The jump to a major came in 2025, when he signed with Atlantic and followed with the Once More EP that August. His debut album, Xavier, arrived on January 30, 2026, through 1-chance, Surf Gang and Atlantic: 20 tracks plus a streaming bonus, “Party At My Place,” made with Skrillex and Dylan Brady. One of those tracks is called “Harajuku.” The cover, a nighttime painting by Kyler Garrison, shows a bench in Riverside Park, a spot that keeps resurfacing in his work and shares its name with both of his headlining tours.

The months since have kept the profile rising. A February cover story for The FADER came with a documentary, Keep It Going, that followed his Riverside run, and the Carson slot put him on a bill with Prettifun and DJ Moon through the end of September.

No larger project has been formally announced around the new single. As of October 2, “Walls Closin Inn” sits at the top of his Apple Music page as his latest rel, one slot ahead of “Struggle Gang.”
