French footwear brand VEJA and Dover Street Market Ginza have teamed up to present a special capsule collection featuring one-of-a-kind sneakers meticulously hand-stitched by the Sashiko Gals, a group of skilled artisans specializing in traditional repair and customization techniques. This exclusive collaboration brings together fashion-forward design, vintage aesthetics, and ancient Japanese craftsmanship to create a truly unique offering.

VEJA’s “Panenka” shoe, inspired by vintage football trainers, serves as the canvas for the Sashiko Gals’ intricate handiwork. Each pair in this capsule collection highlights the timeless art of Sashiko, a Japanese stitching method dating back to the 8th century that reinforces and embellishes used garments.

The resulting designs feature exquisite patterns and a vibrant array of thread colors, infusing the sneakers with a rich, one-of-a-kind aesthetic.

Based in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, the Sashiko Gals comprise a group of women aged 40 to 80 who possess an unparalleled mastery of the ancient art form.

This flow not only showcases their exceptional skills but also pays homage to the enduring legacy of traditional craftsmanship in contemporary fashion.

Limited to just ten exclusive pairs, the VEJA x Dover Street Market Ginza collaboration celebrates the convergence of heritage, innovation, and sustainability.

Eager fans can get their hands on these unique sneakers starting next week, available exclusively at Dover Street Market’s Tokyo outpost.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of fashion history that beautifully intertwines tradition, artistry, and design.
