Aritzia’s Nike LD-1000 “EDITION A” places the 1977 running silhouette inside the retailer’s fashion vocabulary. Aritzia’s campaign feature spotlights the shoe in Sesame and describes the project as a meeting of Aritzia’s fashion language and Nike’s sport heritage. The feature identifies the Aritzia app, website and selected boutiques as its sales channels.

This is a documented product release, not a speculative preview. Aritzia’s current product record lists the LD-1000 “EDITION A” as an exclusive women’s leather lace-up sneaker, while the dedicated campaign centers Sesame.

The material story is concise. According to the official Aritzia product page, the upper uses premium tumbled leather designed to develop natural wear and patina. Aritzia also identifies a relocated debossed logo, women’s sizing and a custom charm. Its campaign specifies that the charm is an Aritzia-exclusive star and that the shoe comes with co-branded packaging.

Those restrained interventions are the edition’s point of distinction: leather, placement and an exclusive star charm carry the collaboration.

retro

Nike dates the original LD-1000 to 1977. The company says the model’s dramatically flared heel was created to support long-distance runners, and its current LD-1000 description continues to identify the Waffle sole as a defining element. That is the defensible heritage line behind Aritzia’s version: an early Nike distance-running shape translated into a contemporary leather release.

The LD-1000 was already back in circulation before this Aritzia edition. Stüssy’s official archive dates its Nike LD-1000 project to July 2024, when Action Green and Phantom pairs were introduced with the model’s Waffle sole, Swoosh and a co-branded tongue label. That record corrects the earlier claim that Stüssy revived the shoe in 2023.

The “EDITION A” does not need an invented performance story to make its case. The product’s identity rests on a clear contrast: Nike’s low-profile 1977 runner, Aritzia’s tumbled-leather treatment, a debossed branding move and an exclusive star charm. The Sesame campaign turns those details into a tonal fashion proposition without rewriting the LD-1000’s documented origin.

DRIFT did not conduct a hands-on wear test. No independent conclusion is made here about fit, comfort, traction, durability or the feel of the materials beyond what the official product records publish.
