CONVERSE WORKING’s side-gore high keeps JSAA Class A hardware and swaps a lace fight for elastic at the waist. Olive/black and burgundy/black.

The collar still reads All Star. Star on the ankle. Foxing stripe. High canvas grammar even when the sheet is not canvas. Then the sides give. Elastic panels sit where a work boot would cut a gore. You do not unthread eight eyelets to get the cap back over the toes.

Converse Japan parks that object in CONVERSE WORKING. The company’s own line is blunt. JSAA writes the safety numbers. Converse writes the last. Toe impression. Toe compression. Sole peel. Slip. Heel shock. Then the extras a shift actually uses: cushion, flex, air, a heel you can see in a dark bay.

It is not a JIS safety boot. Product pages say so. JSAA type approval. Resin cap. Shoe weight. Different rulebook from the steel-toe statute.

On 20 August 2026 Converse Japan put an official autumn and winter WORKING notice on the wire: six new models. February’s WORKING PR had already renamed the main last ALL STAR PS II and listed five spring SKUs. This brief is the side-gore pattern on that family. Olive with black. Burgundy with black. Clarino from Kuraray.

converse.co.jp/pages/cpd-spec is eight hardware lines, not a mood board.

The cap is hard resin, rated to Class A impact and Class A compression. Drop a weight on the toe in the test bay and the resin is what answers. The last is sprung high at the front. The spec calls it high toe spring. The point is ugly and useful: less catch on a pallet lip, a stair nosing, a cable tray.

Bond between upper and sole is a peel test, same Class A sheet. WORKING shoes fail that test in a lab before they fail it on a wet tile.

Upper duty goes to Clarino. Kuraray’s registered artificial leather. The spec sentence is “light and durable.” Mesh rides with it at the tongue and the vents. You get a leather-like face that does not drink water the way unfinished hide does, and a panel that can be wiped.

Underfoot: rubber, All Star outline, revised contact patch, flex grooves moved. Class A slip is an add-on performance, not a slogan. Sole Type I is fuel-oil rubber. Diesel on a shop floor swells a cheap compound. Type I is the grade that shrugs more of that.

Heel shock is EVA twice. Midsole. Cup insole. Class A extra. Lining and sockliner are treated against bacteria because a protective sneaker lives in the same sock for ten hours.

PS II, on the February PR, already changed three comfort items that older PS shoes argued about. Flex guides in the bottom. Larger mesh eyelets. A double-mesh tongue. The side-gore high sits on that stack. The gore does not replace the cap. It only changes how you enter the cap.

Spring official prices on related lasts, for scale, not for this SKU: PS II HI at ¥14,850, PS II OX at ¥14,300, PS II BB OX at ¥16,500, One Star PS at ¥16,500. Size card on those PR lines is 23.0 to 28.0, then 29.0 and 30.0. This brief does not print its own yen. None is invented.

Shop copy on earlier official SIDEGORE HI pages is almost the brief word for word. All Star design. Boot-like side gore. Easy on and off. That sentence has lived on navy, coyote, and collab tickets. The pattern is not new. Putting it on the PS II protective last with these two colors is the request.

A high-cut All Star without gore is a lace ritual. Eight holes, tongue, pull, knot, tuck. A kitchen line or a warehouse aisle does not always allow that ritual twice an hour. Gore is the cheat. Elastic in the waist. Collar opens. Foot goes in. Cap stays over the phalanges. Laces can still exist. They are no longer the only door.

Spare laces in the older official boxes carry reflector weave. Heel tape carries reflector. That is visibility at 5 a.m. in a lot, not decoration. Mesh in the tongue dumps heat when Clarino would otherwise hold it.

Converse Japan’s X called WORKING a tool you wear. 履く道具. February post. Same account. Same line. The gore is the part of the tool that saves time.

Two tinctures in the brief. Olive with black. Burgundy with black. No third panel. No safety yellow. The pairing is old All Star contrast flattened so the shoe can sit next to a chino and still pass a site rule about toes.

Clarino takes dye in those ranges without looking like a fashion seasonal. Mesh stays darker at the vents. Foxing stays close to the All Star white or gum language depending on the photo Converse posts. Until the PDP is up, color names stay as the brief wrote them.

Around this last, official 2026 WORKING already showed other doors. PS II DM Z HI: denim, side zip, indigo or black, ¥18,150, 27 February. PS II BB OX: heel you step on, charcoal/black or black/gold, white outsole that marks a floor less, ¥16,500. One Star PS: 1974 star last, blue Clarino, EVA at the heel liner, 6 March. March shop news: ALL STAR PS II CENTERZIP HI / AVIREX, ripstop and synthetic, black, ¥20,900, 31 March. Different zip. Different ticket. Same Class A idea.

All Star history on the Japan shop still starts in 1917, Marquis M. Converse, basketball, then everything else. WORKING is the chapter where the same outline carries a test report.

Six FW models were announced by the company on 20 August. This gore high is the one the brief describes. Cap. Clarino. Elastic at the waist. Olive or burgundy. No rival magazine in the sourcing. No yen invented for a page that has not printed one.
