The shoe is a moccasin apron on a sneaker last. One piece of leather wrapping the foot, a U-shaped forefoot, running-shoe overlays on top of that, an Abzorb midsole. The 1890 it descends from, a 2013 lifestyle model, paired an 890v3-like upper with a 2002 sole unit.

A moccasin is built from one piece of leather brought up around the foot and sewn in a U across the vamp. The 1890A keeps that U and then lays running overlays on it, the kind of synthetic or metallic panel a New Balance trainer uses to hold the lace row. Abzorb is the midsole name, the cushion compound the company puts under lifestyle numbers when it wants the shoe to read as a runner without being one.

The 2013 1890 is the cited parent: an upper that recalled the 890v3, a sole taken from the 2002. The A suffix is the current cut. Colors so far run from a snakeskin Morel/Black in July, through Dark Night leather, a cow-print Angora, a pink granite mesh with a silver-shifting overlay and a near-white apron pipe, to the Truffle Salt metallic arriving on the 22nd.
