Cordell Broadus, son of renowned rapper Snoop Dogg, is making significant strides in the business world by honoring his family’s entrepreneurial spirit and shaping the vision of Dr. Bombay Ice Cream as its creative director. A Legacy Rooted in Entrepreneurship

Cordell attributes his entrepreneurial drive to his great-grandfather, who owned a dairy farm in Mississippi during the 1950s and 60s—a remarkable achievement for a Black man in that era. This family history instilled in Cordell the importance of ownership and generational wealth. He emphasizes, “It starts with my great-grandfather in Mississippi… just the mentality of being a Black man in the ’50s and ’60s, owning land, owning, you know, things that can bring passive income.”

Transition from Sports to Business

Initially, Cordell made a name for himself in sports, becoming a top-ranked wide receiver in high school and committing to UCLA’s football program. However, he soon realized his true passions lay elsewhere and decided to pursue filmmaking, modeling, and business ventures. Reflecting on this decision, he notes, “I didn’t know what it was going to look like when I walked away, but I felt it would be empowering.”

Innovating with Dr. Bombay Ice Cream

As the creative director of Dr. Bombay Ice Cream, Cordell oversees the brand’s vision, artistic direction, and storytelling. He has been instrumental in developing unique flavors such as Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Rollin’ in the Dough, and Tropical Sherbet Swizzle, aiming to evoke nostalgia and joy among consumers. Cordell and his father sought to reintroduce a particular type of nostalgia to the frozen dessert aisle, blending cultural references with innovative flavors.

Commercial Success and Expansion

Since its launch in July 2023, Dr. Bombay Ice Cream has experienced remarkable success, reportedly generating over $10 million in revenue within its first year. The brand has expanded its presence to major retailers, including Walmart, 7-Eleven, and Speedway, making it accessible to a broad consumer base.

Cordell’s efforts with Dr. Bombay Ice Cream are part of a broader mission to build generational wealth and a lasting legacy. He aims to create opportunities and representation in fields where young Black entrepreneurs are underrepresented.
