Months after calling it one of his favorite songs of 2025, Elton John has recorded his own version of Turnstile’s “Seein’ Stars.”

A version of “Seein’ Stars” featuring Elton John now exists, rel without much advance warning today. It is one of the reworked tracks on Never Enough: Versions, Turnstile‘s surprise companion project to their Grammy winning fourth album, put out by Roadrunner Records on August 28.

The pair has a clear origin point. Back in December, on his Apple Music show Rocket Hour, John invited Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates on for a conversation about the band’s year. He told Yates that Never Enough was one of his favorite albums of 2025, that “Seein’ Stars” specifically had landed on his own top 20 songs list, and that the record hadn’t left his five-disc CD changer in months. He called the band’s music “fucking amazing” and closed the call by inviting Yates to dinner next time Turnstile passed through London. Yates offered to handle dessert.

That conversation now has a tracklist credit attached to it. “Seein’ Stars” first arrived on April 30, 2025 as a dual single with “Birds,” pairing Turnstile’s hardcore instincts with guest vocals from Hayley Williams and Blood Orange‘s Devonté Hynes for a detour into disco pop, close enough to David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” that one outlet reached for the comparison at the time. Lambgoat‘s release-day coverage confirms John’s rendition now streams alongside the original.

Twenty-two tracks make up the finished project, according to a same-day rundown from Dazed, stretched across the original record’s 14 songs, with several picking up more than one reworking. Death metal band Dying Fetus took on “Birds,” the same song that won Turnstile the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. Baltimore club producer Rod Lee turned the title track into a local dance cut complete with a new verse, and electronic producer Four Tet reworked “Look Out for Me.” John, at 79, shares billing with all of them, plus pop singer Slayyyter, jazz musicians Shabaka and Brandon Woody, and more than a dozen others.

It is not John’s first time pairing off with an artist several gens removed from his own run of 1970s hits. He has recorded with Dua Lipa, Britney Spears, and Chappell Roan in recent years. Turnstile, for its part, spent the past year carrying Never Enough through Coachella, Primavera Sound, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza before the record picked up five Grammy nominations, the first time a band had been nominated in the rock, alternative, and metal categories in the same year, and won two, Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance, on February 1, 2026. The original album arrived June 6, 2025, and became the band’s highest charting release, reaching the top ten in five countries including the US.

Turnstile marked today’s rel on stage, playing London’s All Points East in support of Tyler, The Creator on a bill that also included Clipse and Vince Staples. Their own headline run, Never Enough Tour Pt. 2, opens September 9 in Milwaukee, a 16-date trek with a different supporting lineup in each city and a standing partnership with local nonprofit organizations at every stop.
