DRIFT

In the vibrant milieu of Paris Fashion Week, Converse CONS unveiled collaborative projects with skateboarders Rémy Taveira and Roman Gonzalez, epitomizing the fusion of skate culture and high fashion. The launch event, orchestrated by Clement, the visionary behind Parisian skate brand Öctagon, served as a nexus for art, photography, and skateboarding.

Rémy Taveira’s Photographic Journey

Rémy Taveira, renowned for his global skateboarding exploits, has meticulously documented his travels through film photography. The exhibition showcased a curated selection of these images, offering an intimate glimpse into his experiences and perspectives. Complementing the visual display, Taveira released his inaugural photo book, encapsulating years of captured moments. The event was graced by his family and close associates, fostering heartfelt interactions centered around his photographic narratives.

Roman Gonzalez’s Immersive Installation

In contrast, Roman Gonzalez transformed his exhibition space to mirror his personal living quarters, creating an ambiance of familiarity and comfort. This setting invited attendees to engage with his drawings and artistic expressions in a relaxed environment, reflecting the authenticity of his creative process.

The Footwear Collaborations

Central to the event were the bespoke footwear designs by Taveira and Gonzalez, each infusing their unique artistic sensibilities into classic Converse silhouettes.

  • Rémy Taveira’s Fastbreak Pro: Taveira reimagined the Fastbreak Pro, integrating elements inspired by his photographic endeavors. The design features subtle nods to his visual artistry, encapsulating his dual passions for skateboarding and photography.
  • Roman Gonzalez’s CTAS Pro: Gonzalez’s interpretation of the Chuck Taylor All Star Pro is a testament to his refined aesthetic. The sneaker boasts intricate details, including embossed artwork and a color palette reminiscent of his favored boots. The incorporation of metal climbing eyelets and reinforced features enhances durability, catering to the demands of skateboarding.

Öctagon’s Curatorial Influence

Clement’s role extended beyond event coordination; his curatorial expertise ensured that the exhibitions authentically represented the artists’ visions. Öctagon’s commitment to bridging skate culture with contemporary art was palpable throughout the event, reinforcing the brand’s ethos of innovation and collaboration.

Converse CONS’s Dedication to Skateboarding

These collaborations underscore Converse CONS’s unwavering support for the skateboarding community. By partnering with influential figures like Taveira and Gonzalez, Converse continues to celebrate and elevate skate culture within the broader fashion landscape.
