DRIFT

Helinox and Crocs have paired up for the first time, dressing the outdoor label’s technical identity onto Crocs’ trail focused clog with a nighttime glow twist.

Helinox, the outdoor gear brand run under Kolon Industries’ FnC fashion division, confirmed its first ever collaboration with Crocs on July 27, according to Korea Economic Daily. The pairing takes Crocs’ outdoor focused Quick Trail Clog as its base and layers Helinox’s own design language on top, arriving in two colorways: black and walnut.

A three-panel campaign collage showcases Helinox Quick Trail clogs in outdoor environments. The largest image captures the glow-in-the-dark lace anchors emitting a vivid green light during a nighttime trail walk, while two smaller panels highlight the black colorway stepping through shallow water and the olive colorway being adjusted on a rocky hillside. Together, the images emphasize the clog's technical outdoor construction, quick-lace system, adjustable heel strap, and day-to-night versatility.

The Helinox Quick Trail campaign highlights the technical clog in both daylight and low-light environments, showcasing glow-in-the-dark lace anchors, a quick-adjust lacing system, and rugged outdoor performance across rocky terrain and shallow water. The imagery underscores the model’s blend of hiking functionality and everyday versatility.

The project runs under the name “Luminous Splash,” a theme the brands say draws on lakeside campsites at night in the middle of summer. That inspiration shows up directly in the shoe’s main functional trick: a glow in the dark treatment applied to both the Jibbitz charms and the outsole, meant to keep the wearer visible once the sun goes down on an actual trip rather than just look interesting in daylight product photos.

That framing matters more than it might first appear. A large share of Crocs’ collaborations lean entirely on graphics or licensing, a character, a logo, a color story pulled from somewhere else. Helinox’s pitch here is functional first, built around an actual use case, walking around a dark campsite, rather than a purely visual mashup. Whether that reads as a meaningful distinction or just marketing language depends on how the glow treatment performs once people actually get a pair outdoors, but it does track with how Helinox talks about its own furniture and gear, where a design detail is usually justified by a specific outdoor scenario rather than aesthetics alone.

The base Quick Trail Clog already splits the difference between Crocs’ classic slip-on comfort and a more outdoor ready build, with a rubber toe cap, ventilation holes, and an adjustable ladder lock backstrap. Helinox’s version keeps all of that and adds its own layer of camping specific detail on top.

The most distinctive addition is a Jibbitz charm shaped like a quick lace toggle, the kind of pull cord fastening system used across outdoor gear to tighten or loosen a shoe without tying a traditional lace. Rather than a purely decorative charm, it nods directly to hardware Helinox and other technical outdoor brands rely on for their tents, packs, and footwear lines. Paired with an adjustable heel strap and the brand’s usual Croslite cushioning underfoot, the shoe is built around the same premise as the rest of Helinox’s product catalog: gear light enough and simple enough to set up, or in this case slip on, without a second thought.

The two colorways, black and walnut, both lean toward the muted, campsite-ready palette Helinox typically favors over brighter seasonal drops, which fits a collaboration built around nighttime visibility rather than daytime standout color. The glow treatment does the visual heavy lifting instead of the base colorway, meaning the shoe is designed to look fairly restrained in daylight and only really show its hand once it gets dark, a detail that separates it from most licensed Crocs connection built to read loudly at any hour.

base

Crocs has used the Quick Trail line as its go-to canvas for outdoor leaning collaborations since reviving the silhouette a couple of years ago, pairing it previously with names like Simone Rocha and Satisfy Running to push the clog format toward genuine trail use rather than pure lounging. That track record makes it a fairly natural fit for a brand like Helinox, whose entire identity is built around portable, adventure ready equipment rather than street style for its own sake.

A Helinox Wear representative described the collaboration as a way of extending the technical identity the brand has built through years of camping gear into everyday footwear, adding that the customizable charm details and glow in the dark elements are meant to offer a new kind of wearable experience consistent with what the outdoor brand stands for.

who

Helinox built its name on ultralight, packable camp furniture, chairs, cots, and tables engineered to fold down small enough for a backpack while still holding real weight, and the brand has become a fixture at campsites and music festivals well beyond the core hiking crowd. It operates under Kolon Industries’ FnC division, the same fashion arm behind a wide roster of outdoor and lifestyle labels in the Korean market, and has built out its own apparel line, Helinox Wear, alongside the furniture the brand is best known for.

Collision are a significant part of how Helinox operates day to day rather than an occasional marketing exercise. The brand has paired its chairs, tables, and bags with names spanning Bearbrick, Wacko Maria, fragment design, Pendleton, Neighborhood, and A Bathing Ape, among many others, consistently finding partners that let its core furniture and gear cross over into fashion and collectible territory. A footwear partner was a comparatively new direction for the brand, and Crocs, with its own long history of leaning into unconventional collaborators, is a fitting first step into that category.

That pattern of frequent, varied collaboration also explains why a footwear tie-in reads as a natural next step rather than a stretch. Helinox has spent years training its audience to expect its gear to show up somewhere unexpected every few months, whether that’s a Paris pop-up, an anime crossover, or a heritage textile brand reworking one of its chairs. A Crocs clog fits that same pattern of taking a core piece of Helinox’s identity, in this case its hardware and functional design language, and translating it into a completely different product category.
