In one of the most unexpected yet perfectly Arizona-flavored collaborations of 2026, McDonald’s and Nike have teamed up with Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker for a special edition of the Nike Book 2. Dubbed the “Sedona,” this sneaker pays homage to one of the most unique fast-food landmarks in the world: the McDonald’s in Sedona, Arizona, famous for its turquoise arches instead of the iconic golden ones.

The general release is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at $155. While some early buzz mentioned potential activity around May 29, the confirmed retail drop lands on June 2 via Nike SNKRS, Nike.com, and select retailers. A hyper-limited Friends & Family edition was available through a McDonald’s app sweepstakes ending May 28.

Sedona, Arizona, is renowned for its stunning red rock formations, vortexes, and spiritual energy. In 1993, when McDonald’s sought to open a location there, local regulations and community efforts to preserve the natural aesthetic led to a rare concession: the restaurant’s arches were painted turquoise to blend with the desert landscape rather than clash with the iconic red rocks. It remains the only McDonald’s in the world with this color scheme.

Devin Booker, a proud Arizona resident and culture adventurer, has long drawn inspiration from his adopted home state. The Book 2 “Sedona” transforms that personal connection into wearable storytelling. The colorway—Sanddrift/Light British Tan with Red Stardust and Dusty Cactus accents—evokes the earthy desert tones and the distinctive turquoise signage. Subtle McDonald’s nods appear throughout without feeling gimmicky: perhaps embroidered details resembling arches or packaging that playfully references the brand’s heritage.

This isn’t Booker’s first brush with McDonald’s. As a McDonald’s All-American in high school, his journey has always intersected with the golden arches. The collision feels authentic rather than forced—a celebration of community, local pride, and the small quirks that make places memorable.

The Nike Book 2 “Sedona” (Style Code: IR6443-100) builds on the silhouette’s established performance foundation while leaning into lifestyle appeal. Equipped with Cushlon 3.0 foam for responsive cushioning and a forefoot Air Zoom unit for explosive movement, it remains a legitimate on-court option for guards and wings who value quickness and comfort.

Visually, the upper combines premium materials in desert-inspired hues. The base evokes sun-bleached sand and canyon walls, while turquoise accents mirror the Sedona arches. Nike’s design team incorporated subtle basketball storytelling elements—perhaps textured patterns reminiscent of desert trails or details nodding to Booker’s on-court journey. The result is a shoe that feels equally at home on the court, in the streets of Phoenix, or hiking Sedona’s trails.

Packaging elevates the experience. The standard retail pair comes in thematic box design, while the ultra-rare Friends & Family version reportedly features a Big Mac-inspired shoebox, complete with special details for the 50 winners of the McDonald’s app sweepstakes.

scope

This drop represents more than a sneaker release—it’s a cultural moment. Fast-food and athletic wear collaborations have a rich history (think McDonald’s x Travis Scott or various Nike food-themed packs), but few feel as location-specific and narrative-driven as this one. By spotlighting a single McDonald’s location, the project celebrates hyper-local identity in a globalized world.

Sneaker enthusiasts are buzzing. Early reactions praise the thoughtful color palette and storytelling depth. For Arizona natives, it’s personal. For collectors, it’s a must-cop piece from Devin Booker’s still-young signature line. At $155, it offers strong value compared to many premium collisions.

The marketing rollout has been clever. McDonald’s released a mysterious ad featuring Booker and Ronald McDonald in the desert, with the tagline “Do you seek the turquoise arches?” The spot generated significant social media conversation, blending nostalgia, basketball, and desert mysticism.

Since debuting his first signature shoe, Booker has approached the Nike Book line with intention. Each release tells part of his story—from his Michigan roots to his rise in Phoenix. The Book 2 “Sedona” continues this tradition, emphasizing community and place. Booker has spoken about McDonald’s being part of his life long before fame, making this partnership genuine.

In an era where athlete signatures often feel disconnected from personal narrative, Booker’s approach stands out. He’s involved in design decisions, ensuring each colorway carries meaning. The Sedona edition reinforces his identity as more than a scorer—it positions him as a cultural connector in Arizona.

The McDonald’s × Nike Book 2 “Sedona” exemplifies successful modern collaborations: rooted in real stories, respectful of local culture, and executed with high design standards. It bridges basketball performance, lifestyle appeal, and brand nostalgia without sacrificing authenticity.

In a crowded sneaker calendar, this drop stands out for its charm and specificity. It reminds us that the best products often come from unexpected intersections—basketball excellence meeting desert quirkiness, global brands honoring local exceptions.

For Devin Booker, it’s another milestone in building a signature legacy that extends beyond the court. For McDonald’s, it’s a fresh way to connect with younger audiences through culture and creativity. For sneakerheads, it’s simply a beautiful, story-rich shoe dropping right as summer heats up.

Either you’re a Suns fan, a desert dweller, or just appreciate clever design, the Book 2 “Sedona” offers more than fresh kicks—it delivers a slice of Arizona magic you can lace up and take anywhere. Mark your calendars for June 2. The turquoise arches await.
