flow

The official colorway is listed as Black/Marina/White-Campfire Orange/Court Blue/Orange Horizon. It’s a rich, textured build that feels premium and skate-ready while packing layers of symbolism.

Upper Construction: A cracked, metallic navy/black leather base with “bug-like” textured suede overlays that wear in beautifully over time, revealing softer material underneath. Butterfly-shaped perforations expose subtle reflective orange accents beneath.

Swoosh: A 3D, printed hexagonal “bug-eye” Swoosh in rich Marina blue — a standout detail that nods to the compound eyes of the monarch.

Laces & Wings: Fuzzy (faux-fur) laces in multiple color options for customization. The Dunk Low’s signature lace wings are deliberately destitched and “free” for the first time on this model, symbolizing butterfly wings in flight.

Heel & Insole: Destitched heel straps reveal vivid migrating monarch wing patterns. Custom embroidery and graphic insoles continue the theme. The tongue and interior feature nods to South Carolina sunsets and the shop’s heritage.

Midsole/Outsole: Clean white midsole with a translucent outsole showing blue-to-orange gradients and speckling, evoking sky-to-sunset transitions. Classic Zoom Air cushioning for skate impact protection.

The result is a Dunk that looks striking on foot — dark and moody up close, but vibrant with orange pops and blue accents that catch light. It’s built for sessions but detailed enough for collectors.

trope

Bluetile Skateboards, founded by David Toole in Columbia, SC, has been a pillar of the local scene for 25 years. This collab isn’t just product — it’s personal. It draws from the monarch butterfly’s epic 3,000-mile migration, a symbol of resilience, transformation, and the search for home.

The shop explicitly ties this to Mexican immigrants who’ve become integral to their community. A heartfelt shoutout goes to shop manager Irving, who journeyed from Veracruz, Mexico, to South Carolina. “Like the Monarch, Irving and the many immigrants like him bring color to our lives and continue to uplift the communities they serve.”

South Carolina sunsets (Campfire Orange and Marina blues) are woven in, grounding the design in place. It’s a celebration of movement, identity, DIY perseverance, and how skate culture creates belonging. This depth elevates it beyond typical colorway drops.

why

Nike SB continues to excel at shop collabs that feel authentic. Past hits like concepts from other independent shops set high bars; Bluetile delivers with substance. The staggered release builds hype while prioritizing the local community first — exactly what good skate shop drops should do.

On feet, expect the cracked textures to patina uniquely, fuzzy laces to age with character, and the free-floating wings to add dynamic movement when skating. It’s a versatile daily driver that tells a story.
