According to reliable sources, the two rappers trade bars over a beat built by the very producers hosting their showdown, turning the rel into a promotional gift wrapped inside a family reunion.

The Game (Jayceon Terrell Taylor) and YG (Keenon Jackson) represent two different eras of the same city. Game broke through in the mid 2000s as a Dr. Dre protege, while YG built his name a decade later on Mustard-laced West Coast bounce. Their “Compton Forever” matchup, streaming live on Apple Music and Complex, was already billed as one of the year’s most anticipated Verzuz cards precisely because it rarely happens: two artists from the same city, separated by a full gen, standing on the same stage.

What makes “Red People” more than a pre-game warmup is who built it. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz co-created Verzuz back in 2020, and the platform relaunched in October 2025 through a partnership with Apple Music and Complex, debuting at ComplexCon. The pairing carries its own backstory. Rumors of tension between Game, YG, and longtime YG convincer Mustard circulated back in August 2024 after Game posted a series of cryptic call-outs, though Game later shut that speculation down himself.
