A slim training form picks up boned stitching and Italian lambskin as two houses that have never worked together, or with each other’s category, trade signatures for the first time.
The starting point for this shoe was never a mood board of other shoes. FILA and Mugler built their first collaboration, a limited-edition release called “FILA Parchment Scroll” in the brands’ own Chinese-lang materials, around a stack of centuries-old Vatican parchment manuscripts. That reference gave the shoe its palette: pale, sanded nudes and creams meant to read as aged vellum rather than anything sport-adjacent. Layered onto that base is the runway language of Mugler’s spring/summer 2026 collection, “Stardust Aphrodite,” the first outing under creative director Miguel Castro Freitas, who took over the house in March 2025 after Casey Cadwallader’s eight-year run. The result sits somewhere between an archival curiosity and a fashion object, which is roughly the point.
The pair rel global on August 21, according to Mugler’s own account of the launch, with FILA framing it as a limited run rather than an ongoing line extension.

FILA didn’t design a new shoe from scratch. It took Ritmo, its slim-sole training profile and the same low-profile family that carry ast year’s Ritmo Sleek rollout, and let Mugler’s design lang rework the surface. The most visible addition is a corset-style boned stitch running across the upper, a direct lift from the structured, body-conscious tailoring Mugler has built its reputation on since the Manfred Thierry Mugler era. Translating a corset seam, a technique built for fabric that wraps and compresses a torso, onto a rigid shoe upper is a stranger exercise than it sounds, and it’s the detail FILA’s own materials lean on hardest to explain what makes this different from a standard co-branded colorway.
Underneath the design flourish sits a more practical claim: FILA says this is the first time in its shoe-making history, which stretches back more than a century to Biella, Italy, that it has built a shoe in Italian lambskin from end to end. The leather carries a natural sheen the brand has paired with a small decorative sheepskin tag and gold-foil brand, treat the material as the scarcity marker rather than a number production run. FILA’s Molbido Soft Comfort insole, its existing house cushion tech, was kept in place, a small nod to the fact that a dress shoe built from a running sil still has to function as a shoe.
scope
What makes the rel notable inside the industry has less to do with the shoe itself than with who’s making it. This is FILA’s first collide with Mugler, but it’s also, by FILA’s account, Mugler’s first collaboration with any sportswear or athletic-fashion brand at all. Mugler has moved through mass-market and footwear collide before, most visible its 2023 capsule with H&M and Casey Cadwallader’s 2022 footwear project with Jimmy Choo’s Sandra Choi, but never with a brand built around perform product. For a house whose current creative direction under Castro Freitas has leaned into corsetry and sculptural tailoring rather than sport, lending that language to a training shoe is a genuine departure, not a rebrand of an existing shoe collection.

For FILA, the read is more straightforward: it’s another step in a run of connection, span designer names like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO, streetwear label, and now a Paris couture house, that the brand has used to keep Ritmo and its other low-profile lines circulating through fashion conversation rather than just performance retail. Pair with Mugler specifically pushes that position further up market than most of FILA’s past partners.

The Mugler pair lands only months after FILA returned to the Milan Fashion Week calendar for the first time in five years, stage its FW26 “FILA MILANO” show under creative director Alistair Carr and reasserting the brand’s case for “haute sportism” on its home turf. Seen against that backdrop, the Mugler shoe reads less like an isolated novelty and more like the next rung on a ladder FILA has been building all year, from a runway comeback in its own name to a genuine co-sign from an establish Paris fashion house.
Coverage of the release originated with Mugler and FILA’s own regional channels rather than a joint global press push, and English-language detail remains thin days out from launch: no confirmed retail price, sizing scope, or purchase links had surfaced by publication, and the “FILA Parchment Scroll” name used here is a working translation of the Chinese-language title rather than a brand-confirmed English name. Anyone chasing the release Friday should watch each brand’s own storefronts and social channels for the retail rollout, since neither had posted purchase details as of this writing.
