Futura Puts Orbits On Booker’s Second Shoe

Book 2. White field. Yellow, teal, deep red-purple. Suns Media Day. No SKU, date, or price.

Devin Booker walked into Phoenix Suns Media Day on a white Nike Book 2 covered in Futura hue. The assigned read is a clean upper used as a wall: yellow, teal, and a deep red-purple laid in fog and orbits from the toe through the quarter and onto the tongue. The Swoosh does not sit on the graphic. It sinks into it. BOOK on the tongue label is a sloped hand, not the stock stamp. Laces and midsole stay white.

That is the whole official fact set. No style code. No SNKRS tile. No yen. Line Book 2s have been selling near $145. Do not tape that number to this PE until Nike does.

Book 2 is the second sig. After Book 1, Booker and the design group wanted less bulk and more floor: Air Zoom moved to the forefoot, Cushlon 3.0 in the midsole, a molded upper, a low cut that points at skate shoes, old cars, and older Nike sportswear. First retail colorways landed in January 2026. Media Day 2026 is where the Futura pair appeared on his feet in the group photo, white socks, paint on the mesh.

The still is a lineup, then a crop of ankles. That is how PEs travel now. You do not get a three-quarter pack shot. You get sock, heel tab, and enough of the quarter to see the paint is not a Suns orange wrap. Yellow and teal read first. The dark red-purple sits in the fog. Circles and curves do not repeat like a team bank print. They stray. That is Futura’s habit: spheres and orbits instead of a logo slap.

Tongue type is the tell from chest height. A sloped BOOK is the collide sentence when the rest of the shoe is white. If a retail version exists later, that label is how you separate it from every other white Book 2 already on the calendar.

Leonard McGurr has used those marks since the 1970s, off the New York trains and into museums. The same hand has already lived on Nike leather. Seeing it on Booker’s current last is the news. Seeing it without a product page is the limit.

Book 2 is a low, quiet cup. That is why it can hold a painting. A loud midsole would fight the fog. White lace and white foam keep the graphic as the only event. Underneath, the shoe still has to play: Zoom up front for the first step, Cushlon 3.0 for the rest of the night, a last Booker asked to sit closer to wood than Book 1.

Skate and Spiridon notes in the design talk are why the profile can look like a lifestyle low in a studio and still be a basketball shoe in the gym. Futura does not change the stack. Futura changes the wall.

Nike history with Futura is already long. 2003 Dunk Low Pro SB. 2004 UNKLE Dunk High graphics. 2024 Futura Laboratories x SB Dunk Low with painted canvas overlays. 2025 a non-sale Air Force 1 for the 70th birthday. Those were skate and lifestyle objects. Book 2 is a player’s line. That is the shift, even if the pair never leaves PE.

Fragment already showed a white and pink Book 2 with no date. Futura is in the same drawer. Media Day is not a launch. Watch nike.com, futuralaboratories.com, and Booker’s own posts. If a tile appears, look for the sloped BOOK and the white cup under orbits. Anything else is a different Book 2.

Until then the evidence is the ankle crop: paint on a perform low, no price tag in the frame.
