JOURNAL STANDARD relume’s New Era Hardwash 9THIRTY program is slated again for late October 2026, following a two-year cycle of sold-out washes, restocks, and muted MLB colorways.
The last autumn New Era cap that JOURNAL STANDARD relume treated as a proper seasonal object, not a side SKU, sat on cloth fabric twill that had already been washed until the crown went slack. Retail copy called it Hardwash. The block was the 9THIRTY, not the shallower 9TWENTY that had carried the first Toranomon gift-shop run. A Japan market rel notice in August 2025 put reservation on the BAYCREWS store at the end of that month, with store arrive from mid-September and, on at least one 25FW Dodgers list, general sale into late October. The same window is the brief for 2026 FW.

That is the entire news, and it is thinner than the product history underneath it. As of 28 August 2026, neither Baycrews PR TIMES nor New Era Japan has post a standalone FW26 Hardwash 9THIRTY lookbook, SKU grid, or tone card. What can be reported without invention is the program itself: a relume-only wash on an official MLB mark, a free-size strap, a price that has held at ¥6,600 tax in through 25FW and 26SS, and a habit of selling out fast enough that the same silhouettes return as “additional reservation” months later.
how
JOURNAL STANDARD relume is the Baycrews line that talks about “just feeling” and then spends its calendar on factory-level specials: PENDLETON shaggy shirts, PUMA T7 velour, Champion Reverse Weave turned inside out. The New Era relationship sits in that same drawer. It is not a one-off logo swap. It is a repeating brief: take a current New Era adjustable, strip the stiff newness out of the twill, pick Yankees or Dodgers, and lock the hue to a relume palette rather than the team’s game-day spec.
The first public spike was not even a relume floorset. Four 9TWENTY washes (Hardwash and Splash / spray-bleach) opened at THE STAND, the gift shop in Toranomon Hills Station Tower, and went immediate. Baycrews moved those four onto relume rails in autumn 2025 and added three first-look 9THIRTY Hardwash blocks. Fashion Press described the new crown as hand-washed until it slumped, with light visor distress and, on the Splash cousins, bleach thrown by spray. Price on the 2025 PR was ¥6,000 plus tax. By the 26SS restock cycle the ticket had settled at ¥6,600 tax in, the figure that still sits on Lumine, Rakuten Fashion, and Marui product pages in 2026.
January 2026 was the first proof that the wash had an afterlife. Two sold-out 9THIRTY design return, one new colorway joined them mid-month, and four further first-look 9THIRTYs were parked for March. UOMO treated the restock as an adult-cap story, which is how relume wants the object read: not a fitted gamer’s lid, a slouch that sits on denim and a stadium jacket without announce a replica kit. March and April added more Hardwash 9THIRTY colorways plus a Madras-check 9TWENTY at ¥7,700. Mid-August 2026, a Japan market release notice flagged extra reservation stock of the 26SS Hardwash 9THIRTY and 9TWENTY online. The line does not reset. It reprints.
That reprint logic is why a late-October FW26 date is plausible even without a live SKU page. The 25FW Hardwash 9THIRTY already used late September to late October as its landing strip. Relume’s other 26FW specials are already on the calendar: leather zip and coach jackets mid-September, Pendleton phase one in September and phase two in November. A washed cap in the last third of October would sit between those drops without colliding with them.

actual
New Era writes the 9THIRTY as a mid-depth adjustable: softer than a structure 59FIFTY, deeper than a 9TWENTY, with a visor whose side curve is rounder than the older low-profile block. Relume product copy repeats the same sentence across Yankees and Dodgers SKUs. The 9TWENTY keeps a shallow, more crushed look. The 9THIRTY adds a little vertical room so the wash can collapse without the cap sitting flat on the skull.
Measured pages on Lumine and Rakuten put the free-size 9THIRTY Hardwash at roughly 12.5 cm crown height, a 50–62 cm strap range, and a 7 cm visor. The 9TWENTY Hardwash list run closer to 13 cm in some charts and 11 cm in others, which is the usual mess of retailer measure sheets rather than two different factory. Material on the relume Hardwash 9THIRTY is listed as cotton 100 percent body, polyester 100 percent embroidery thread, China production, “do not wash” on the care line. Some earlier cousin SKUs under the wider Journal Standard umbrella use a polyester-cotton twill. The relume Hardwash cards keep returning to cloth fabric twill plus a vintage wash.
The wash is the point of the special. Retailers put the same caution on every product block: because of the process, damage and hand differ from piece to piece. That is not a defect clause. It is the design. A Hardwash 9THIRTY that arrived looking like a deadstock game cap would have failed the brief. The crown is supposed to look already worn on day one, which is why the program keeps being restocked rather than replaced by a crisp new construction.
straddle
The two clubs on the Hardwash cards are the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Relume copy is almost bureaucratic about geography: Bronx for the Yankees, Los Angeles for the Dodgers. Front marks stay official. That matters because other Journal Standard and THE STAND specials in 2025–26 have tilted the NY mark 15 or 25 degrees and needed a small upright logo on the rear to keep MLB sign-off. Hardwash, so far as publish cards show, keeps the mark upright and spends its difference in the cloth.
Where relume does change the embroider lang is stitch. Baycrews and UOMO both flag chain stitch on the NY mark, the same stitch family used on denim and stadium jackets. That is the quiet link between the cap and the rest of a relume floor: the mark is supposed to sit next to selvedge and a varsity, not next to a polyester replica jersey.
Hue is where the special is most view and least stable from season to season. Published 25FW and 26SS cards, not a future FW26 grid, already run a long muted list: army brown / camel, beige, navy, grey / sandbeige, black / camel, charcoal / beige, greige, deep green, plus 9TWENTY cousins in navy and bordeaux. The pattern is consistent even when the hex codes change. Relume does not order a clean navy with a bright white NY. It orders a washed navy, a dirty grey, a sand that already looks like last summer’s hat. Logo thread is often shift off the official team white so the front sits closer to the body.
MLB license is the ceiling on photography here. Official Yankees and Dodgers marks are protected marks. Any live product shot of a Hardwash 9THIRTY with those fronts belongs in a licensed slot, not a scraped CDN. What can be described without a picture is the layout New Era uses on almost every adjustable: front team mark, New Era flag at the left temple, adjustable strap at the rear, sometimes a small secondary mark on the back panel when a special needs extra approval.

¥6,600 tax in has been the Hardwash 9THIRTY number through the 26SS restocks. The 2025 launch PR still said ¥6,000 plus tax. The Madras 9TWENTY that travel with the spring Hardwash set jumped to ¥7,700. Size is free on every publish card. The strap, not a fitted block, is how relume keeps the cap unisex on paper and easy to replenish.

Distribution is a Baycrews closed loop: JOURNAL STANDARD relume stores, the Baycrews online store, and the usual Japanese department and mall rails that already carry relume (Lumine, Marui, Rakuten Fashion brand avenue). THE STAND was the 2024 incubator and is explicitly not part of later relume restocks. Taiwan relume shops have carried Hardwash SKUs as well, with local pricing on the Taipei and Taichung accounts. There is no published New Era Japan flagship exclusive for this special. The cap lives on the apparel side of the aisle.
Jiyugaoka remains the phone number Baycrews prints on relume New Era releases: 03-5731-0504. That is not romance. It is how the company routes size and stock questions when the online reservation window slams shut.
Fit talk in store copy is modest. The 9THIRTY is “a little deeper” than the 9TWENTY. The wash takes stiffness out of the cotton so the cap breaks faster than a raw twill 9FORTY. People buying a second color already know the strap range. People buying a first one are being sold a shape that will not sit like a structured home cap.
why
Caps in Japan have a second season that clothing calendars often miss. August is still peak heat. September is transition stock. Late October is when a washed cotton crown stops looking like a summer leftover and starts looking like the thing you wear with a coach jacket. Relume’s own 26FW leather set is timed for mid-September. A Hardwash 9THIRTY six weeks later would land after the leather has been seen and before Pendleton’s November CPO.
The 25FW Dodgers Hardwash card already used that late-October general-sale language on at least one Japan listing, even when reservation had opened at the end of August. The program likes a long fuse: reserve first, trickle into stores, refill when the first wave evaporates. January and August 2026 both proved the refill part. A FW26 late-October date would be a new seasonal plate, not a surprise invention.
It also keeps the cap inside relume’s adult-casual pitch. Brooks Brothers x New Era unstructured 9FORTYs in grey, black, navy, and beige hit relume in June 2026 at ¥8,800. Journal Standard’s own gingham 9FORTY with SOKTAS and Mileta shirting cloth and a 25-degree NY mark ran in April. Those are fabric stories. Hardwash is a laundry story. October is when laundry stories read as winter texture instead of beachwear.
fin
Honesty first. A late-October 2026 FW Hardwash 9THIRTY is the assignment on the desk. It is not, as of 28 August 2026, a posted Baycrews product page with a 26FW season code, a live reservation toggle, or a New Era Japan lookbook frame. August’s public cap news from relume’s parent and from New Era Japan is other product: extra 26SS Hardwash reservation on one side, New Era’s own Running 9THIRTY and 9TWENTY plus a Y’s capsule on the other. Relume’s late-August PR energy went to Pendleton, not to a cap.
What a reader can hold now is the established spec. 9THIRTY adjustable. Cotton twill. Hardwash that makes every unit slightly different. Yankees and Dodgers as the licensed fronts on every documented cycle so far. Chain stitch called out on the NY specials. ¥6,600 tax in unless the next card moves it. Free size, 50–62 cm strap band on current measure sheets. Relume stores and Baycrews online as the buy path. Jiyugaoka as the printed service desk.
If FW26 follows the last two calendars, color will be the only real news when the page finally goes up: another grey that is not last year’s grey, another brown that sits closer to leather week. The silhouette does not need reinventing. Relume already spent 2025 teaching customers the difference between a 9TWENTY crush and a 9THIRTY slouch. Late October is simply the next time that slouch is supposed to hit the rail.
Until Baycrews publishes the FW26 grid, any count of colorways, any claim of a new club mark, and any exact on-sale hour would be guesswork. The program is real. The October window is the brief. The SKU list is still blank.
